I had the pleasure - truly to experience riding with a master moto driver.
This man was born to drive a moto.
It was like butter, but what I really mean is creamy leather.
man and his bike - the perfect mix of salty and sweet;
butter pecan ice on a hot summers day,
sweetness and saltiness mingling on your tongue
licking the sticky creaminess as it trails, sticky
down the crease between your thumb and forefinger.
It was frankly sensual, to witnesses this master at work,
casual, sure, yet precise in his choices.
STOP. go.
Swerve.
The roar of the streets beneath me, mapped out over 32 years, of him and his bike.
He knew I loved the speed, and he pushed full throttle.
Weaving a braid around and between petty nuisances like cars and other riders.
Is this what it feels like to fly?
Surely, it must be.
It certainly felt like we were flying. Just me, him, the bike, and the road.
A perfect mix.
He knew where to really open up and as
I leaned my body into the curves of the road, he asked me
“Você é piloto também?” - Do you drive too?
“Nao, mas eu adoraaa. Quero aprende, quero muitooooo” - No, but I love it. I want to learn so bad!
I witnessed mastery today, and though it may not seem like much, but it was everything to me. The way he melded the rubber to the street was nothing short of divinity. The currents of power dancing beneath his fingertips,
electric,
watching him expertly control his Honda NXR 160 Bros was intoxicating.
We went so fast at one point,
My helmet flew off my head in traffic, and he had to whip back around and retrieve it.
Fix the strap, and we were back off to the races. Pointing out where he lived, and other sites he wanted to be sure I’d met before along the way.
He was amazed that both my parent were Black, and I moved here and I spoke Português .
The only other thing I can compare it to is the joy of sitting in the front seat for the first time of his 95 Cadallic DeVille, creme leather seats, drumming his fingers on the wheel as his favorite singer croons that “Old Skool” music, burnished sunset cresting trees. Drinking in sunset and vibes, completely unaware this will be a reference point moment from this point in your young life, on. ..
Yeah, something like that.
So grateful the Universe chose ME to enjoy this moment. Bless you, Alexsando.
I had the best ride of my life today & it was fucking awesome.
